Salvage Car of the Week – Undamaged Mazda 626
A credit Crunch Special!
Keeping it cheap and cheerful this week, and possibly one of the simplest salvage cars we have ever featured. Its unrecorded, un-damaged Maxda 626, on a 2000 W plate. 89k miles, and for sale for £595. The car simply requires an MOT, and for you to apply for the V% and other docs.
I live locally to Aldershot and often visit there for parts spares etc, and can highly recommend the salvage yard. They are excellent for providing cheaper salvage, but do often have the odd few gems!
They often advertise on bluecycle.com, so be sure to keep an eye out.
If you are after a 1st salvage car, which is very easy to repair, try this one.
Mazda 626
Damage: No Damage
Category: Not recorded (Cat U)
Milage: 89k
Required Repairs: Just requires MOT
Disclaimer:
Please note all descriptions of salvaged cars are taken directly from the salvage yards. Wrecks to Riches is not held responsible for accurately describing the damage of salvaged cars, nor what is required to bring a salvaged car back to road worthiness. We would always recommend personally viewing a salvaged car before purchase.
Salvage Car of the Week x2
This week I’ve picked two of Salvage Car’s of the week.
One complete dream car, and another more down to earth salvage project.
Ferrari F430 F1
A 2005 4.3 litre beast of a car. Although in somewhat of a bad shape at the moment. Definitely in need of some TLC
Its got some pretty substantial damage. But then, if you are going to own a car like this, you have to drive it properly, meaning if you get it wrong, its going to go very wrong!
Damage
o/s/f wing, o/s/f suspension, A post, o/s door, o/s door?, o/s door glass, bonnet,front bumper, rads, headlight, windscreen,both airbags,roof,alloys,floor, o/s/r suspension,roof dented and kinks, mileage unknown.
Currently on: www.bluecycle.com
Auction: bids currently at £39k.
Ends: 1st September at 09.06
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 Sport
An immaculate (pre-accident) example of a Lancer. Minor front end damage, only a couple of years old with low mileage (£14K)
Good re-sale opportunity because with the launch of the Evo X, the Lancer has hit the spotlight.
Only minor repairs are required, and its priced competitively.
Damage
Light drivers side frontal. Parts have been removed for inspection
Currently on: www.qualitysalvage.net
Price: £2,975
In my opinion, so long as you can get hold of the few parts required for repair, it would make a good first salvage car.
Salvage Car of the Week – BMW Z4M 3.2
I personally have a big soft spot for the Z4, most notably because I own one.
Here is an example of one of the best Z4’s, a 3.2 litre //M Coupe. Featuring the same 3.2 engine that was in the e46 M3.
This car is available currently on bluecycle.com (Salvage Auction Website) and is ready for collection from Ewhurst.
Damage: WATER DAMAGE UP TO LOWER DASH, ODD MARKS ALL ROUND, HAS KEY, ENG STARTED.
Auction end: 21/08/2008 09:13
Current price: £5.510.00
Although the car i only flood damaged, don’t be fooled that this will necessarily be an easy repair. Although the bodywork is intact, the issues will be electrical problems, and with a car flooded so substantially, there are bound to be a few!
That said, the engine is said to still start which is promising. However, I would suggest that anybody looking to buy a flood damaged car goes and inspects the car personally, and pays very close attention to all electrical functions.
For more tips on repairing and cleaning flood damaged cars, there is a very useful guide here.
Porsche 911 (997) GT3 RS – Damaged repaired salvage
Salvage Car of the Week
The mother of all damaged repaired cars is for sale!!
A mint, previously damaged, but now fully repaired 911 GT3 RS – In possibly the best colour available. Currently for sale through www.s-w-s.co.uk
Priced at £77,950
Porsche 911 (997) GT3 RS
2007 – reg
Metallic Pearl Orange/ Black
2,100 miles
Petrol
No damage. Had light off-side front & off-side rear damage. However has been fully repaired by Porsche approved repairer. Full spec car inc. PCM Navi, Ceramic brakes, Suede headlining.
Still a very expensive, car especially when considering you could buy a brand new base model 911 brand new from the dealers, but all things considered if you have the cash available and are after a world class track day car, this could be the perfect one for you..
Damaged Repairable – Aston Martin Vanquish
Be just like James Bond for the price of a second hand beemer!
Its not very often you get to see an Aston Martin Vanquish, and even rarer to see one available as salvage!
Quality Salvage currently have a 2002, 5.9 Tiptronic Vanquish for sale. The front end damage does look fairly substantial an there is some damage to the cylinder head, but for the price, and considering the rarity of the car this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
For sale at a pricey £29,995, it does seem a little expensive, especially once considering the parts required to fix. But if you could get it at a reasonable price you could be a real life James Bond!
Before even thinking about purchasing we would strongly suggest you check out suitable repairers, and start looking for suitable places to source parts for the repair. With these car’s being as rare as hens teeth, parts will be hard to come by. (Just checked on e-bay, which usually gives a good indication of parts availability, and there was nothing!)
A non damaged repaired example seems to be worth around £40k, considering the prestige and re-sale I would suggest a repaired car (as a vague guide) would be worth around £30-35k. So if you are thinking about this car, also do your sums first!
Other than that, could be an excellent opportunity for someone.
Car available at www.qualitysalvage.net
Salvage car of the Week – MG ZS 1.8
2004 MG ZS 1.8
£1475
www.QualitySalvage.net
Damage: High frontal, water radiator damaged. Although no air bag damage, car also still drives.
Light damage on a cheap car, which would make a perfect run around or a simple first fix for someone new to repairing salvaged cars.
This MG is a good buy, for a few simple reasons. Its an especially good buy for anyone looking to repair and sell on a car for the 1st time.
1. Car is priced competitively, and is low risk. Under 1.5k for a salave car sounds quite reasonable to me.
2. Parts for MG ZS / Rover 45 are low, and are readily available through e-bay and scrap yards etc.
3. Its only got light front-end damage and no air-bags have gone off – Essentially its an easy repair.
The MG ZS still retails for fairly reasonable money, check AutoTrader, and being that this is a cheap, and quick repair it should be an easy turnaround salvage job for someone.
If I had the money, and space. I would snap it up here and now!
Salvage of the Week – Damaged Repairable Lotus Elise
Salvage of the Week.
2003 / 53 Lotus Elise 111s
Damage to drvers side clam shell. Had also hd suspension damage but this has been repaired by the salvage yard – Quality Salvage.
Its currently up for £8,875 and seems likea bit of a bargain consdering other examples on autotrader are going for around £12-13k. replacement clam shells are readily available through e-Bay, and can sometimes be bought for as little as £250. Add on a bit extra for new clam shell bolts and attachements, and possibly a matching wheel and tyre, and yo have yourself a very cheap Lotus Elise ready for the summer!
Looks like a very good car for the price.
