Being  Cat U doesnt necessarily mean its driveable, just thats its not recorded on the HPI register. Typically Cat U cars havent come through insurance companies, but rather via fleets, ex-rentals etc, where companies decide just not to persue via insurance. 

Check out my previous post on salvage categories, Cat U is pretty much the same as a cat X vehicle.
